


Agriturismo San Giacomo has grown thorough the time thanks to many little sacrifices made by Pietro which has come in Tuscany in tender age, thanks to his work and the aid of his family he managed to this day, to create an unique and peerless setting.
Situated at the foot of the ""Balze"" and surrounded by the typical Tuscan Hills, the Agriturismo protract as more as 200 hectares channeled principally into cereal cultivation, the remaining mould is left to wood and olive trees grown.
The pool, bordered by Cypresses and olives trees, overlook on a
breathtaking landscape, a light breeze blows continually from the sea
and make the temperature pleasant even on the hottest summer
days.
Not neglirible shrewdness is the use of istallions of salin
purifications for the cleaning of the water in the swimming pool. So
it means no chlorine, a substance that is often not tolerated.
Thanks to the care of Pietro, Angela and their three sons, the guests will be able to rediscover the farmer way of living, nowadays almost lost: the planting, the harvesting, the cheerful dinner to celebrate the harvest, set up with genuine food cooked by Angela.
From the Agriturismo San Giacomo can be easily reached the historic city of Volterra, it takes no more than 10 minutes, and thanks to its central position, well enable to reach the most important city of Tuscany, such as Pisa, Siena, Firenze, San Giminiano and Lucca.
The guests will be able to allow their self an absolutely peaceful holiday thanks to the walk through the farm soils and the long path which lead to the wood; moreover for the fishing fans the chance for a lake sport fishing, inside the property.

Volterra is situated on the course of the era river, near the border between the provinces of Pisa, Firenze and Siena it is an ancient village, that has meant alabaster since always.
Volterra is a pictorsque town that maintained its medieval appareance intact. Walking between the villages, it is possible to appreciate the colour of Volterra, the pale ochre, of the local sandstone and the Panchino (another kind of stone), of which are built walls of the houses, the public palaces, the many houses and tower of the fourteenth- century and the paving of the roads (cars are usually forbidden to go). In the roads of the centre we find the shops of the artisans of the alabaster that expose their product that are works of art.
Volterra is a municipality of 11267 inhabitants is province of Pisa, the town, that is famous for the extraction and the processing of the alabaster, keeps a notable old part of Etruscan origins. From this period are preserved "Porta All'Arco", wonderful preserved and "Porta Diana", that preserves the blocks of the jambs. There are also Roman ruins and the "Palazzo dei Priori" situated on the square of the same name.
Obviously, the name of the town has Etruscan origins, but later it was adapted to the latin Volterrae. The prefix later VEL (of the Etruscan origins) is to be noted and means "Hill". Velathri (the ancient name of Volterra) belonged to the Etruscan confederation called "dedacopoli" or "Lucumone". The king was called "Luchumon".
The landscape of Volterra is characterized by the calanchi, that make it one of the most beautiful towns of Tuscany. Going back up from "Molino d' Era" to Volterra, we remain dazzled by the change of the panorama, so to make us stoop for looking at the wonderfuls of the splendid Tuscany.
The hills and the calanchi make the gentle slope a pleasant stroll, that brings us near "le Balze", a natural creation by which we remain spellbound. Le Balze is situated near the town, on the south-west part of the hil of Volterra between Val di Cecina and Valle dell'Era.
The features about that are determinated by the geological peculiarity of this area, that is subject to many longslides and kinds of erosion, typical of clayey grounds.
This phenomena is progressively increased by permeability of the sands that lead to a quick seepage of meteoric waters until the level of the clay. This creates a spectacular morphologic situation, that is the vertical walls (created by the landslide) make the typical morphologic of Le Balze, with the calanchi lying below.The area of le Balze is of 88,86 hectares.

Girasole: The Girasole is a very beautiful two-roomed flat that is built on two floors. It is made up of a completely provided and furnished kitchen, living room with a double sofa bed, a big bathroom with shower and a wonderful double room, where you enter by going up the outer stairs. This double room is furnished with care in great and has a four-poster bed. It has the feature for being situated at a height of 13 metres above sea level and this lets you to have a complete sight of the wonderful view that surrounds all the farm holidays. The flat is able to accommodate four people maximum and it is furnished with the care of all the other flats and offers our guests several service and comforts: satellite television, washing machine, dishwasher, Internet access, household and bedclothes service and swimming pool. You are offered the possibility to have very good meals using the outer table with chairs and sun umbrella.
Anfora: Anfora is a spacious ground floor two-room apartment, which is situated in the original farmhouse. The 2 arches on the facade of the house are characteristic of the old style. In order to maintain its authenticity, the building has undergone extensive renovation work. The apartment's name derives from a '800 terracotta roof tile, that resembled an ancient anfora, which was found during the reconstruction of the interior of the house. This anfora has now been carefully restored and has a symbolic function at the front of the apartment. You enter the brick arch entrance of the apartment from the main courtyard. Inside the apartment is a spacious living room, decorated in a simple rustic style with stone walls. The apartment can accommodate up to 5 people. There is a large bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. In the living room, there is a sofa bed. All rooms are comfortable and well-equipped. The kitchen is open plan with all the necessary mod cons- microwave, dishwasher, oven and large fridge. The bathroom contains a shower, toilet, bidet and washing machine. Guests of the Anfora apartment can make use of the salt water swimming pool or sunbathe on the available sun loungers. Each apartment has its own table outside, where guests can enjoy their dinner and can admire the sunset.
Gelsomino: Gelsomino is a large two-room apartment, which resembles an old Tuscan country house. Here, you can admire an original Volterra-styled ceiling, with its chestnut beam rafters and recently renovated roof tiles. It is impossible not to be impressed and enchanted, whilst coming up the stairs and pausing for a while on the balcony, by the fantastic view of the Balze of Volterra and the olive groves which rim the city, which are the main characteristic features of this ancient town. The apartment is very spacious and can accommodate 7 people. It has a large double bedroom, the windows of which face Volterra, and a roomy loft conversion, which can either be used as bedroom or a relaxation area. Entry to the apartment is by the communal garden, where every family has their own private table and sunshade - ideal for a dinner whilst admiring the sunset. The apartment has been furnished with an eye for detail. It has a large bathroom with a shower, toilet, bidet and washing machine. Additionally, it has a big fridge, microwave, oven and a dishwasher. The swimming pool is available to the guests of Gelsomino and is co-used by the guests of the apartments.
Geranio: Geranio, built to mirror the old traditional classic style, is a wide three room apartment. The characteristic façade of the building has been partly built from original bricks and stones. On ground floor level is an archway, which leads down to an amazing cellar. The outside of the building consists of 2 archways, the symbol which characterises all the apartments. From the balcony, you can look up to the hills and the incredible lands of the Balze, which border them. The apartment's entrance was designed as a sitting room and relaxation area, and this leads into the other parts of the apartment. There is a separate kitchen area in the apartment, which leads directly to the dining room. From here, you can reach the two bedrooms, the bathroom and the cosy loft conversion. The apartment can accommodate up to 8 people. It has one spacious bedroom with a wrought iron double bed and a second bedroom which contains two single beds. There are also two sofa beds available to use. The bathroom is large and has a shower, toilet, bidet and washing machine. This apartment is well equipped with all mod cons-microwave, oven, big fridge and dishwasher. The guests will be able to admire the wonderful sunsets, which colour the hills over the farm. You fail for nothing here. You can use the outside swimming pool and a private table is available in the courtyard with a sunshade, where you can enjoy a peaceful lunch or dinner.
Giglio: Giglio is a characteristic three-roomed flat with independent entrance, situated on the first floor. It has a panoramic terrace where it is possible to admire a stunning view over a charming and uncontaminated scenery. The apartment, completely furnished according to the typical Arte Povera, can accommodate 6 guests and it comprises: an elegant living-room with double hide sofa-bed. The kitchen, fully supplied with all the necessary accessories and tools, has been realized following the old style country-kitchens and it overlooks a wonderful landscape. Through the corridor it is possible to reach 2 wide bedrooms, whose colours fit in with our Tuscan countryside nuances, and the bathroom with shower box and washing machine. The apartment offers all the comforts and a private external space with table, which is ideal to have dinner enjoying breathtaking sunsets.
Mimosa: The Mimosa is a bright three-room apartment with separate entrance and outdoor area, also has a large terrace which allows to losing the sight inside the beautiful surrounding landscape. The apartment, well-kept with high quality interior finishes, can accommodate 6 guests and offers a comfortable living-room with a big sofa-bed and a well-supplied kitchen. This unit comprises 2 wide bedrooms with wrought-iron beds and typical Tuscan chestnut beams-ceiling which match with the whole architectural style of the property. The apartment has all the necessary comforts: bathroom with shower-box, washing machine, dish-washer, TV, fridge and microwave-oven. The guests will be able to enjoy the common swimming pool, their external table to have pleasant dinner outside admiring wonderful sunsets and spending charming evenings in the moonlight.
Orchidea: The Orchidea is a nice, warm and comfortable two roomed flat situated on the ground floor. It has, as the other apartments, independent entrance and a private external space: a charming pergola with table and armchairs in order to have dinner outside and in order to spend lovely relaxing days. The apartment can accommodate 4 guests, also disabled persons and it comprises: a bright living room with kitchen and sofa-bed, a wide bathroom with shower, bathrooms fittings (also for handicapped persons) and a wonderful bedrooms which overlooks Tuscan stunning countryside. In the bedroom it will be possible just at the beginning of the day to enjoy the Tuscan sceneries such as the rolling sweet hills and the valleys surrounded by green woods and yellow fields of wheat. The apartments is fully furnished with high quality materials according to the typical Florence Arte Povera, plus it is supplied with all the comforts: fridge, dish washer, washing machine, tools, thermal-autonomous heating, Tv in order to meet all the guests' needs.
Margherita: Margherita is a very beautiful four-roomed flat that is absorbed into the nature. It is completely surround by olive trees. The flat is situated at the ground floor and it is made up of a completely provided and furnished kitchen with living room, two bathrooms with shower (one of them is right for disabled) and three bedrooms. One of them is a double room and two are twin rooms (with the possibility to become two double rooms when you like). On the inside of the structure you will enjoy the privilege to make use of every comfort: satellite television, washing machine, dishwasher, Internet access, household and bedclothes service, swimming pool and an outer table with chairs and sun umbrella. This is the opportunity for you to have glorious days between nature and cosiness. The flat is able to accommodate six people maximum.
